Dear colleagues!

Arterial hypertension remains an important medical and social problem and its control remains insufficient. Annually, arterial hypertension claims about 10 million lives and ranks first among the preventable causes of death.

On the initiative of the International Society of Hypertension and the support of the Russian Society of Cardiology, the MMM21 global social action for measuring blood pressure was held in 11 cities of Russia from May to November 2021. The aim was to promote the importance of measuring BP and identify those people who need to lower BP according to current guidelines.

The MMM21 campaign was held in 94 countries of the world, 2491 participants were screened in Russia. The action was supported by doctors, nurses and students from St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Voronezh, Ryazan, Ulyanovsk, Rostov, Tambov, Simferopol, Volgograd. Data collection was carried out both in person and through a survey on the site.

Most of the patients (400) were examined by the team of doctors from Krasnoyarsk led by Professor Anna Chernova. As a result of the campaign, it is planned to publish an article in a journal reviewed by the Higher Attestation Commission and provide a travel grant for the winner to the Russian National Congress of Cardiology 2022.
