INR Day - free express test for blood clotting

Within the World Thrombosis Day taking place on October 13th a social action INR Day will be held in Russia for the seventh time. Patients taking indirect anticoagulants can test the    international normalized ratio (INR), or blood clotting ability.

Social action supported by the Russian Society of Cardiology is taking place in 25 Russian cities including Saint-Petersburg. On October 12th patients were able to have express test in three hospitals:
- City consulting and diagnostic center 1
- Almazov National Medical Research Centre
- City Mariinskaya Hospital

The project is aimed to bring public attention to importance of using anticoagulants for reducing thrombosis and stroke risks by well-timed control of blood-clotting. More than 3,000 patients from 20 Russian cities take part in this project annually.
