"Dress in Red!" at the Russian National Congress of Cardiology
Every year more than 17 millions of people die from heart diseases all over the world. This problem is especially significant in Russia. We could avoid many deaths from CVD by raising awareness about possible risks and prevention. Help us to attract public attention to this frightening statistics by dressing yourself in red at the Russian National Congress of Cardiology on September, 26 and get an encouraging souvenir from the "Dress in Red!” project.
The large-scale campaign "Dress in Red!" took over the baton from the international project "Go Red for Women" with more than 10 years of history. Choosing a red dress, as a central element of the campaign, is not accidental — a feminine image and red colour symbolize the anxiety caused by the rapid growth and "rejuvenation" of morbidity and mortality from CVD all over the world. Traditionally, it is the woman who is responsible for the health of family members. Hence, first of all, women should be informed about the possible risks and available measures to prevent CVD. In Russia, the campaign started in 2014 with the social and educational program "Pulse of Life". Well-known athletes, actresses, singers, cardiologists and thousands of social networking users participate in the project annually, who send their photos to the contest and join the flash mobs.
This campaign helped to make citizens of 15 Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Ufa and other — aware of CVD risks and prevention.
In 2018 on October, 29, in honor of the World Stroke Day organizers of the "Dress in Red!" project supported by Moscow City Administration plan to attract attention to CVD problem by illuminating several famous city monuments with a red light, which symbolizes both a heart and an alarm.
Go beyond the regular format of official events and dress in red at the Russian National Congress of Cardiologists. For women, it can be a dress, a suit or a blouse, and for men — a tie, a scarf or another accessory. It is not so important, what to wear exactly, but is essential to make as many people as possible to pay attention to the CVD issue.
