From March 9 to 11 in San-Francisco (California, U.S.A.) the 62nd scientific sessions of American College of Cardiology were held. This year, as it traditionally happens, the ACC Event attracted several thousand specialists from more than 100 countries. 2100 scientific works, among which only 6 Russian, passed through a very tough selection. The Russian science in the Cardiology area was highly appreciated by the world specialists. The focus of the Event was on the transformation of cardiovascular care — from discovery to delivery. The aim was to see how innovation and science impact the delivery of quality care and the prevention of cardiovascular disease in our patients.

The American College of Cardiology is the oldest and the most famous union of cardio-vascular specialists having more than 43 thousand members. Nowadays this society is considered to be a world leader in the sphere of medical policy and guidelines development as well as completing research projects.

For more than half a century, ACC has been accepting as fellow members the distinguished clinicists and researchers who made a significant contribution into development of the world cardivascular science. To become an ACC Fellow is quite a challenge, and even more so for non-American applicants. A candidate must meet strict criteria of the association and have truly outstanding achievements in research and/or clinical work. At present, less than 10 leading cardiologists in Russia, including academicians Evgeny Chazov and Evgeny Shlyakhto, have this honorary title.

During the last day of the Congress, at a traditional Convocation Ceremony new FACC were welcomed. This year, 250 specialists from all over the world were elected to be ACC Fellows. Among them - Director of the Tumen Cardiology Centre, Professor Vadim Kuznetsov.
